Psalms 83

God Implored to Confound His Enemies.

A Song, a Psalm of Asaph.

1 O God, ado not remain quiet;
bDo not be silent and, O God, do not be still.
2For behold, Your enemies cmake an uproar,
And dthose who hate You have
Lit lifted up the head
,
fexalted themselves.
3They gmake shrewd plans against Your people,
And
Or consult
conspire together against iYour
Or hidden ones
treasured ones.
4They have said, “Come, and klet us wipe them out
Lit from
as a nation,
That the mname of Israel be remembered no more.”
5For they have
Or consulted
,
oconspired together with one mind;
Against You they make a covenant:
6The tents of pEdom and the qIshmaelites,
rMoab and the sHagrites;
7 tGebal and uAmmon and vAmalek,
wPhilistia with the inhabitants of xTyre;
8 yAssyria also has joined with them;
They have become
Lit an arm
a help to the aachildren of Lot.
Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude
Selah.

9Deal with them acas with Midian,
As adwith Sisera and Jabin at the torrent of Kishon,
10Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who aebecame as dung for the ground.
11Make their nobles like afOreb and Zeeb
And all their princes like agZebah and Zalmunna,
12Who said, ahLet us possess for ourselves
The aipastures of God.”

13O my God, make them like the
Or tumbleweed
,
akwhirling dust,
Like alchaff before the wind.
14Like amfire that burns the forest
And like a flame that ansets the mountains on fire,
15So pursue them aowith Your tempest
And terrify them with Your storm.
16 apFill their faces with dishonor,
That they may seek Your name, O Lord.
17Let them be aqashamed and dismayed forever,
And let them be humiliated and perish,
18That they may arknow that asYou alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the atMost High over all the earth.
